Artists chosen for Art on the Wabash

.

Artists have been selected for the fifth annual “Art on the Wabash, a Local Artists Fair,” a juried event that will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 19, at West Lafayette’s Tapawingo Park.

Participants were chosen by juror Nathan Boyd Jones, assistant professor of art at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., who has widely exhibited his own art.

Visitors can expect to see everything from whimsical to fine art and virtually every media, from sculpture to pottery, jewelry, photography, painting, gourd art, woodworking, colored pencil and glass.

“Each artist and each piece of artwork is uniquely creative,” said Beverly Shaw, Art on the Wabash committee chair. “Some pieces are functional, some wearable, some three-dimensional and others ready to be hung on the wall.”

The artists include two mother-daughter teams: Potters Ingrid Craft and Rachael Schatko of Coal Creek Clay in Veedersburg, and Beth McCord and Evie McCord, mother-daughter jewelry designers known as EB Bead & Metal Works, Lafayette.

Among the artists from nearby towns are painter Michael Altman, Colfax; sculptor Thomas Billeaux, Monticello; and, from Crawfordsville, photographer J. Michael Brooks, painter Alice Harpel and Tony Jeurissen, who makes pencil drawings.

Others participating, in a range of media and expression, are Deb Archgill, Manickavelu Balasubramarian, Elizabeth Beeson, Kathryn Bodine, Stacy Bogan, Rebecca Brody, Larry Clark, Lynne Corrigan, Terry Crose, Terri Duncan, Linda Elmore, Caroline Erdahl, Mary Thomas Firestone, Scott Frankenberger, Nancy Grenard, James Harper, Lisa Hopkins, Gail Johnston, Linda LeMar, Donna Leuck, Diana May, Rhonda Mitchell, Sharon Owens, Angi Peterson, Debby Remsburg, Joanne Kuhn Titolo, Sara Vanderkleed, Angela Vinson, Craig Whitten and Andria Workman.

The artists fair is presented by the City of West Lafayette with assistance from Tippecanoe Arts Federation, sponsorship funding from KitchenArt, The Store for Cooks, and WBAA radio as media sponsor.
