Fairfield to Open New Employee Health Clinic

Fairfield Manufacturing Company, Inc. is pleased to announce plans to open a new employee health clinic facility for their employees, qualifying dependents, and retirees.  The new Fairfield Health Clinic will be located within the existing Fairfield facility and will consist of three examining rooms, a laboratory, pharmacy, and space for physical therapy.  The clinic is tentatively scheduled to open in early April of this year.

"Offering this clinic to our employees is a way of dealing with the uncertainty of health care in our country," said Gary Lehman, CEO of Fairfield.   "This provides an alternative to our employees that will allow more convenient access to medical care.”   The health clinic will be staffed and operated by We Care TLC, a Lake Mary, Florida, based company, specializing in the development and management of onsite clinics for small and midsized businesses and governmental organizations.

With a focus on preventive medicine and fitness, cost savings will be realized for both the employee as well as the company, according to Jim Mills, VP of Human Resources at Fairfield.  A full-time nurse disease manager will be available to provide counseling on managing and reducing chronic ailments as well as provide fitness counseling.  Employees and their dependents will be able to use the Fairfield Health Clinic at no cost to the employee, with no co-payment, no pharmacy charges, and no charge for lab work or physical therapy.

The clinic is meant to be an option for employees to use and is not mandatory.  Appointments may be made by calling the clinic or through web – based online scheduling.  Employees may continue to choose their own health care providers as their current insurance coverage allows.

"We can provide almost everything that a family practice offers," said Mills, adding that Fairfield is the first employer in the Lafayette area to open a clinic of this type.  Doctors will work with specialists to determine the best treatment options, and all rooms will have on-line access to a patient's medical history, from initial consultation to medications prescribed, through a central secured data base.  There are no paper charts.  “All paper is scanned and digitized, which not-so-incidentally cuts down on the number of possible errors,” Mills further explained.

The pharmacy will carry most of the commonly prescribed medications. Lab work can be done at the clinic with results that will be accessible electronically, allowing for easier viewing as well as easier access. In the future, employee workshops such as seminars on diabetes management are planned to be offered at the clinic.

The Fairfield Health Clinic will be open five days per week and have varying hours in the beginning, with adjustments to hours of operation as clinic usage grows.  There will be a physician or a nurse

practitioner onsite at all times. The normal employee staff will include a medical assistant to do initial consultations; a registered nurse; a nurse practitioner; and a physician.

Once the clinic opens, the advantages will become obvious to Fairfield employees. “They will experience a high quality of care, easier access, and lower costs for both the employee and Fairfield” commented Mills.
